It is my understanding that as a LLLL, you are covered under LLL insurance and you are allowed to help moms and babies to the *best of your ability*. As a certified IBCLC, you have the knowledge to do an oral assessment and a breast assessment and as a LLL leader, you may do so if you have mom's permission. You are not wearing your IBCLC hat and you cannot charge mom for your services but you may and should perform as a LLLL to the best of your abilities (which includes any abilities that you have because you are IBCLC certified). This is a great way to gain more experience because you will see many moms and babies as a LLLL.

You do not have to make home visits as a LLLL but you may do so if you choose. During a home visit, you are covered by LLL insurance if you have been asked to visit as a LLL and you may perform to the best of your abilities. I know I am repeating myself a lot but I wanted to be clear.

If I am wrong, I definitely want to know!
