Nikki posts about the Danish videos on cup feeding and hand expression which
are now available in the US.  Could not agree more with her!  These are both
excellent films.
The Stanford website was mentioned earlier.  Unless there is a brand new
film available there, I would say look elsewhere if you want to learn how to
express by hand in a way that makes pumping superfluous.  When I watched the
video there a few years ago I suspected it could be the reason hand
expression has so few devotees in the US.  The technique shown was nothing
like what we use here and I was itching to show the woman in the video how
she could increase the yield from her breasts by five fold just by improving
her technique.  It shows a slight trickle emanating from obviously engorged
breasts, using pressure miles from where a baby would be exerting it if the
woman were breastfeeding.  If that is the technique people are using, no
wonder they think pumps are so essential :-(
