I've used supple cups placed inside of the soft shell pre-delivery which helps somewhat. After delivery, pumping some with 20 mm nipple shields full round under a 27 mm flange helps to stretch tissue out.

Subject: Re: Flat Nipples/Nipple Shells

For flat nipples I found supple cups useful in the postpartum period but I'm not sure if they make a difference using them in the antepartum period. My research has been on retracted and inverted nipples in the antepartum period and flat nipples postpartum. Cathy's right. Breast shells during pregnancy were not beneficial in the The MAIN Trial Collaborative Group. It's worth a try to use supple cups before pregnancy. This is something that needs more research and we are working on that.
