The come-back response is always the story of the (usually obese) multip mother who lies on her back, puts babe prone on her chest, and falls asleep that way. Her arms fall to her side and babe is just balanced there. RN wakes mom up to move babe to the crib, and mom repeatedly replaces babe on her chest and falls asleep again. Then babe falls off mom, hits the floor and is sent to NICU for observation. That is their proof that sleeping with baby in mom's bed is dangerous for baby.

It happened here; it happened there; it happened everywhere. They know it because they personally know the RN who worked "everywhere".

I am sorry Niki, but who ever told you to take pics off powerpoint with babies skin to skin has no clue to evidence based teaching. Prone ALONE is the problem! Don't they know that babies feel breathing from mom, hear the heart beat, lower cortisol levels, etc, Mom is right there feeling, tuning into her baby, this is how baby wakes more easily, mom sees/feels the feeding cues, etc.

GIVE ME A BREAK! I would present the evidence to these totally clueless people.
