I work as an LC at high risk maternity center with a Level III NICU.
We have about 5000 births per year and over 700 NICU admissions.
We are interested in putting together a Lactation Champions group
similar to
what the diabetic nurses and wound care nurses have done.
If anyone has any input on how they pulled this together or any tips at
all,
we would appreciate this.
Thanks!

I agree, Nina. That last bit with the quote from the formula
spokesperson was thankfully left off of the printed version in my local
paper.

Nice, Nancy! The IFC rep''s comment is hair-curling.

Subject: inservice for baby photographers

I wrote an earlier post about my thoughts on professional photographers
taking pictures of babies on the maternity ward. The compromise I came
to with the photo service is I will give the 2 photographers an
inservice on babies and explain feeding cues, the importance of sts and
breastfeeding, and ways they can get done what they need to without
interfering with moms and babies--if that is even possible, but that is
another story! Anyway, I received several good responses from all of
you. I have a question from the person who responded about their
photographer and how she gives moms her cell # and she comes back when
it is more convenient for mom. What are her hours? Does she leave the
hospital and come back if needed? Any other ideas on what I can share
with these photographers is much appreciated!

Thanks!
