hi all,

my daughter (now 21ys) received a homemade formula and solids after i
weaned her at 4months.
it was based on this recipe
(http://www.fke-do.de/content.php?seite=seiten/inhalt.php&details=488):

Milchzucker (Laktose) aufgekocht. Danach wird 1,5 % Öl mit einem Mixer
oder Schneebesen eingerührt. Bei Selbstherstellung von Säuglingsmilch
müssen ab der 6. Lebenswoche Vitamin A (Karotin)- und Vitamin
C-Gehalt mindestens 40 mg/100 g Saft (Zutatenliste, Aufdrucke)
betragen.

pasteurized full-fat milk diluted 1:1 with water
2,5% starch
4% sugar (lactose)
1,5% oil
carrot and orange juice

if i think of it now, i have absolutely no idea what i was thinking of
then. not much maybe, as i was rather young and single mother and
noone i knew had breastfed more than 4 weeks....

my daughter developed a cows milk and egg allergy which we could get
rid of with a year of strict diet. she then had rather serious asthma
for quite some time.

hth,

nina

Because the Medieval Church, with the support of kings, princes and
secular authorities, controlled medical education and practice, the
Inquisition constitutes, among other things, an early instance of the
"professional" repudiating the skills and interfering with the rights
of the "nonprofessional" to minister to the poor. -Thomas Szasz, The
Manufacture of Madness-
