Dear Lactnet Friends

Some months ago I posted a request about resources being used for Chinese Women on Breastfeeding, unfortunately I didn't get a reply.

So today I am posting my request again. I not sure what trends other LC/Midwives are seeing but for myself and my colleagues, we are struggling to deal with the cultural believes that are presented by their elders.
These women respect their elders, and this is where the problems arises. their elders insist on formula being given to their grandchildren, and it appears the women mistrust their bodies and ask for formula as they don't want their babies to be hungry , then they don't believe they have sufficient colostrum for their babies. The hospital where I work run Breastfeeding Classes for Chinese Women, What else can we do to promote, support and encourage exclusive breastfeeding for this women. I thought of Breastfeeding Classes for Grandparents, Expressing Leaflets given out in the antenatal period to the women. Easy access to Lactation Consultants but we are not available 24/7.
Regards
June Nicholls
