Morgan's story about the velcro strap device reminded me of a child my 
sister's friend adopted from an overseas orphanage. She had ligature 
marks around both ankles even 2 years after being adopted from being 
tied with rope to keep her still in a crib. It makes one shudder.

I suspect that children's dependency needs are terrifying to people who 
did not get theirs met. Those raised by the "me generation" are a case 
in point. My new worry is what is happening to the brain and language 
development of small children whose mothers are always on the cellular 
phone, and are not being talked to even when they are outdoors.
