Are they painful to mom? If it's not a big issue, then I wouldn't worry
about it, try some lanolin for the dry skin and some moms milk on the area
and see what happens,

Subject: flaky nipples

I have permission to post. I have a coworker who has been having a problem
with flaky skin on her areolas, above the nipples. Originally she thought
it was thrush and used APNO with no change.Baby has no thrush. We thought
it might be from her breastshields as she both breastfeeds and pumps when
at work. I have seen her breasts. There is no shine to the tissue, just
some slight pink and flaky look. We discussed detergents, soaps, lotions
(she
doesn't use any on her breast). Another coworker brought her some goats
milk soap that she uses to wash dishes, pump parts. I have recommended that

she see a dermatologist but she is hesitant as she feels that they won't
know
breasts. I thought I would see if anyone else has any other suggestions.
