Many of you have seen the recent webpage title appearing on a Mead
Johnson website,
http://www.enfamil.com/app/iwp/enfamil/productDetail.dodm=enf&id=10733&iwpst=B2C&ls=0&csred=1&r=3422101508
which stated: ”The Breastmilk Formula-Enfamil.” It seems that the call
by the National Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy (NABA) to report
this deceptive advertising to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
resulted in many complaints being sent to the agency responsible for
monitoring false and misleading advertising. Several days later Mead
Johnson removed the title tab and replaced it with “Enfamil
Lipil-Lipil.” I have the before and after screenshots showing just how
low this company has gone to peddle its products. Obviously we are
being heard by the formula manufacturers. Too bad the FTC seems deaf
and blind to this issue. The FTC needs to hear hundreds more
complaints. Please consider keeping up the pressure on the FTC to do
something about the deceptive advertising that is so harmful to
breastfeeding. Reporting deceptive advertising is easy to do and only
takes a few minutes of your time. Each time you see false and
misleading advertising of infant formula go to
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en and
register your complaint.
