Here is one more concern about your planned CBC credential.

In Arizona (USA), it will conflict with a community college based breastfeeding education program that culminates, with a grade of "B" or better, in the Certified Breastfeeding Counselor or CBC. This is an 8 hrs x 6 days training program under the Dept of Nutrition in an Arizona community college district, for which the student also earns 3 college credit hoiurs. It was primarily created by, and is always taught by, Arizona IBCLCs. With this education, the students can then work to earn their clinical hours in preparation for examination.

But for us, the question will be: "Which CBC are you, exactly?"
Will your CBC have and equivalent level of education as our CBC?

The rest of my thoughts mirror those of other IBCLCs who have written you, except for this: the Board has sought out our thoughts and opinions about your new, lower credential. But after all the discussion, the real purpose of that excercise was only to craft answers and responses to placate our concerns. The final decision was already made. The Board needed to know how to smokescreen all those angry, buzzing IBCLCs. It's a standard practice taken from the pages of Marketing 101.
Just my opinion.

Thank you for your time.
