I thought this new research on oxytocin and bone mass was
fascinating. It supplies one possible explanation for the positive
relationship between breastfeeding / having been breastfed and bone
density. Breastfeeding generates oxytocin in both mothers and
children, and oxytocin is apparently good for bones.

The subject came to my attention in a New York Times article about
bones, which gives a layman's explanation.
