I admit to sharing Pamela Morrison's concern re snipping of tongue ties. I
see about 60 newborns each month plus many older babies as well. At a guess
I would say I note an average of about 7 ties per month. Very rarely do
these cause any problems with breastfeeding. Hazelbaker's assessment tools
are useful in these cases. We have one or two doctors that will snip, but
usually the baby's paediatrician has convinced the parents that it's not
necessary, so it's hard for parents to accept that maybe a second opinion
may be helpful.
