«Do any of you practice in places where women are
advised to bathe in tubs ad lib? I'd love to be able to say 'in some
places, they do....' and then tell mothers about co-bathing.»

Rachel, I don't practice as a m/w or anything else "post-partum" but my
midwives were fine with me bathing after my births in Québec. I never asked
here in Vancouver since I did do it twice in Québec and didn't see it as an
issue anyhow. ;-) Nor did I actually say I *was* bathing, it just never
came up quite honestly.

But I had several baths with Tristan and many without before lochia
stopped...while infection on the inside is a possibility I suppose, I found
it helped healing on the "outside" (ie perenium area, where I did not tear
but had minor lacerations) to bathe and keep clean. Showering is ok but
isn't as thorough I find. Well maybe it would be moreso with a "telephone
shower" but mine is not that.

Just my own personal anecdote...
