"So for all of us who have to endure the gifting for Nurses' Week from the
formula companies, keep the faith and Code!”

...AND be consistent and persistent without being [too] obnoxious...

I am proud to say that THIS year - our nurses took over giving THEMSELVES an
"English tea" instead of being gifted a luncheon from a formula
manufacturer! They paid for it themselves - a LARGE group
volunteered/collaborated in making this happen - inviting a free speaker,
making lots of small canapés and each table had hot water and an assortment
of teas. One nurse donated some inexpensive small frames and each nurses'
picture (I took them with my digital camera and printed them at home) was in
the frame. All the nurses received a beautiful invitation; another nurse
played music while they ate and later listened to a speaker address the
future of nursing.

I couldn’t be there as I was working in another city, but I was so PROUD of
the nurses who took it upon themselves to make this event one to be proud of
for ALL the nurses, taking into account the feelings of those of us who have
commented for years that accepting free gifts is inappropriate!

It CAN be done!
