What a horrendous span of feelings to experience when one is only trying to
nurture their baby at breast. I just have some thoughts, Diane,
unfortunately no solutions. I agree with Nikki about this mom's list being likened to
symptoms and emotional characteristics common to homeopathy's listings in the
Materia Medica. In particular Bach remedies come to mind since they are
specifically for emotions (see _www.bachcentre.com/centre/remedies.htm_
(http://www.bachcentre.com/centre/remedies.htm) ). Perhaps, mom could peruse these Bach
remedies and see which one (s) might be helpful for her.
I also wonder about dietary and vitamin/mineral inbalances since this
response seems to stem from the brain's emotional center. Research on PTSD has
shown brain alterations from repeated trauma/severe stress and though this mom
seems to deny past trauma, I wonder if other types of trauma, other than
sexual abuse, were experienced. Or what kind of brain alterations, nerve
transmissions, uptake sites are affected with oxytocin release when these are not
functioning correctly.
I might suggest to moms like this that they seek practitioners in
complimentary medicine, such as homeopaths, naturopaths, CST/Osteopathic tx to assess
symptoms and offer treatments that closely match these. I wonder if bio
feedback would offer kind of a band-aid treatment by re-directing this and other
moms' usual response to oxytocin release?
As I said, just musings and I'm sure others with nutrition and alternative
therapy experience could also shed some light on this; Jennifer, any thoughts?
for you come to mind. Hope this mom finds some relief soon, even if a
band-aid type of treatment that doesn't address the cause but provides some relief
for the symptoms asap.
