Thank you all for your input and suggestions! I have appreciated the
clarifications :o) Got calls from a couple of my students, and they did well
on their exam this morning, so it's a good feeling!

Nina, I like the idea of going to the coordinator. It is unfortunate that
the woman who is "in charge" of the department is such a breastfeeding
supporter, but she doesn't realize that her information is so out of date. I
have spoken with her in the past, and gone nowhere. Bringing Academy
information is an excellent idea. I would also have to go to thehead of the
RN school, because their information is terrible, as well.

Sharon, your explanation is wonderful! It is a good idea to keep it simple
with the students, because they are dealing with so much information they do
not understand. I would love to see your information, and your flowchart. I
will write you off list with my "send to" info :o)

Linda, as always, I thank you for your input and way of helping me see
things(xoxo).

We have seen a change in local policies due to having a new set of
pediatricians come through. The old group left, and the new group started.
All of the progress made with the old group is gone, and we're back to
square one. More unfortunately, all of the new docs were apparently trained
at high-risk institutions, so they are very aggressive. What they don't seem
to understand is that EVERY high-risk baby is either born somewhere else, or
immediately shipped out, because we do not have the resources to support the
high-risk individuals.

Sometimes you see the whole picture and can't get started. Starting with
familiar faces looks like the best idea.

Sam :o)

<<Check out the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine for an evidence based
protocol. If you are a tutor, perhaps you could approach the course
co-ordinator with the protocol and point out that the course wants updating.
Cheers
