Hi All,

 

Hoping I am not over my limit.I have a mom with fibrocystic breasts.  She is
10 days pp and has a full milk supply.  Baby is not able to nurse just yet
due to other issues we have under control.  Mom is very uncomfortable
however, experiencing pain within the breasts.  I have searched my texts and
found not a lot on this situation.  Mom herself tried doing her own research
and found little information dealing with fibrocystic breast tissue and
lactation.

 

I told her my thought - since I don't know much about this situation - is
that the glandular tissue may be getting crowded by the benign lumps and
that it may take time for everything to find its 'place' in the breast and
settle down.  Don't know if that would be a correct statement, but it was my
best guess.  She says none of the lumps have changed size; they are well
mapped out by her.  She does not have signs or symptoms of mastitis or
plugged milk ducts.  The discomfort is bi-lateral.  She has some relief when
she pumps.  She is currently pumping every 2 - 2.5 hours for her own
comfort.  Going longer is not possible duie to the discomfort.

 

Any help, research etc is greatly appreciated.
