I was an avid fan of this show and it did, at least in some instances, put breastfeeding in the light of the times. I especially remember one episode shortly after the title character had had her baby and was returning to her medical practice. She had run across an article in a medical journal about this wonderful new milk for babies that some doctor had supposedly come up with. She and her husband were debating whether they should use it for their baby. After all, it was the newest "scientific" product for babies and it would make her job easier if she didn't have to take time out to nurse her baby. In the end she decided that there wasn't enough known about the "miracle product" and she knew her milk was best for her baby, so she rejected the "new" product. From time to time in the storylines, she would excuse herself to nurse her baby (who stayed during the day in a room adjacent to her office). I think the neighbors could hear me cheer when she decided to skip the formula!
