Politics with a big P, is the proper domain of most of human endevour.
Who we are is judged as much by what we do, how we treat people, and our
actions in life, than it is by what we say. The gap between what we do,
and what we say, is one of Politics, in many ways. We discuss, argue,
debate, ... change our laws and policies according to our idea and views
as we develop. We have different types of Politics: we have huge social
issues, and we have individual political view points upon them. I dare
say there's little room on LactNet for politics with a small p... which
party will acheive most of what _you_ as an individual person want in
your country.. But big Politics...? Can't see how that can be escaped,
as we're all concerned here with the most basic of Human Rights, and
that comes with a a great big bold *P*. Politics on the international
stage about how we, as a people, a race, a collection of individuals
across the face of the planet, as human beings, determine how we operate
collectively with each other. Statements about what is right for
*humans* regardless of culture, class, ethnicity, age and gender.

Maternity provision and infant feeding choices are Human Rights issues.

Rights (WHO)

Protecting mothers is a political issue. Protecting babies is a
political issue. Lives are lost, and damaged, from there not being
proper maternal health care provision, from lack of maternal choice in
maternity provision, from lack of maternal employment rights and from
industrial pressures on mothers in their infant feeding practices. Huge
great big bold* P*, these issues are.

What always confuses me about Human Rights issues, is that sometimes
people think arguing about them is political with a small p... as if it
makes a difference what political party you support, never mind what
country you are in! *scratches head*.
