The problem is with the book. 30mls could be enough if the the baby is
feeding frequently throughout the day and night. However the book will tell
her that allowing her baby to do this will lead to horrible consequences.
The AAP has made a statement about the danger of this book to the
breastfeeding relationship. I tell mothers that the author has no medical
qualifications. I tell them that if they choose to follow his advice, they
are free to do so but they will soon find that they are unable to produce
enough milk for their babies. Google 'ezzo' and you will find some
interesting conversations about the effects of this parenting style on
children. It is quite frightening. (I have seen my own family members use
this book and their children have most certainly suffered as a result.)
