hello
i didn't understand wether you are talking about a health care worker who
may be colonized by MRSA or about an patient/mother.
MRSA (methycilin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) is quite benign for healthy
people but quite agressive in ill people, specially in a hospital setting.
if you are a health care worker and you are worried about your child, you can
take a nose culture and, if positive, eradicate with topical mupirocin (safe in
breastfeeding). at the same time take universal precautions. WASH HANDS or
wet them with an antiseptic solution and wait until dry between EACH patient.
every 6 patients wipe your stetoscope with alcohol. wash hands when you
arrive home and before holding your child. like this your patients are safe and,
at the same time, so is your healthy child (who, anyway, had a low risk).
if you are talking about a mother, does she has an infection or is she
colonized? breast colonization? wound in breast?
i won't try to guess, i will wait until you answer me with more details.
