Jaye asks:

Hi All,

Got a mailer yesterday regarding this product - Oasis ProLactation Tea - has

anyone heard of it or used it? It states that it is recommended by

Lactation Consultants nationwide."

I went to their website and was troubled by the implication that this product is not only recommended by LCs,
but is also in some way associated with Jack Newman.
?
"The main goal for this tea is for you to produce more breast milk.?
Jack Newman, MD, FRCPC, is the leader in low breast milk research.? He
has documented the amount of herbs necessary for low milk suppliers to
take.? We have formulated, according to his research, the tea base and
powder for you drink 3 times per day to increase your breast milk for
your little baby. "

I emailed Jack and he has never heard of them. Now, I adore Jack and his work , but I would not refer to him as a leading authority when
it comes to herbs. I also hate the term they use "us low milk suppliers". It is really disabling, IMO.

I agree completely with them that women do not use anywhere enough herbs when they use galactogogues. My clients drink a quart or more
per day of tea that they make themselves from herbs that I recommend. I never waste time with fenugreek capsules unless mom has just had
minor temporary dip. To be honest, this tea is nothing special--it's just in a more reasonable quantity.

But, the misleading info on the website is a red flag for me.
