Permission to post.? Mom is a WIC peer counselor and very educated on breastfeeding.? This is her third child.? Baby is nine months old and has been exclusively breastfed until about three weeks ago.? Refuses bottle, solids, etc.? Mom brings baby to work with her and co-sleeps.

Three weeks ago mom was at a funeral, very stressful time for her and her family.? Long drive to get there, long hours helping the family etc.? During that?week she noticed that baby changed latch and it was painful to nurse.? This has increased over the course of the past three weeks to the point that mom and baby are very frustrated with nursing.?

Mom started taking herbal tincture with fengureek, blessed thistle, nettles, red raspberry leaf, goat's rue and fennel for over 72 hours.? She denies any changes in breast fullness or production since starting herbs.? She has been pumping with a hospital grade pump.? She is able to pump 3 oz combined at each pumping which is down from the 4-6 oz she was pumping previously with a Purely Yours.

She is not taking any other medications or herbs.? She has a copper IUD (since baby was six months old).? No mastitis, illness or other factors.

I suggested she try to get a doc to run a hormone panel.? She is also going to try supplementing at the breast with?a #5?French to see if that changes baby's latch.? We talked about a pregnancy test, mom is adamant that she isn't pregnant.

Any other ideas or suggestions??

Mom is hating giving baby formula to supplement the expressed breastmilk and is grieving that nursing might be over.? Baby isn't happy either!!

Thanks in advance,
