I am working on a feeding guideline for a NICU and am looking for a standard
method of advancing volume over the first few days. For our population of
babies that recieve their feedings from gastric tubes or bottles, what is an
appropriate volume to start with and how quickly should one advance them to
their goal feeds? I have heard that a baby typically only gets 1 tsp of
colostrum the first day, 2 tablespoons the second, etc. However, we typically
advance their feedings much quicker than that. Any thoughts??
