I am an IBCLC in Denver and also a staff nurse in the Level 1 nursery.
Our in-house Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) has recommended that any
supplements given to healthy term newborns are as follows:
*Mothers Milk
*Donor Breast Milk
*Pregestimil or Alimentum?
in that order....but no regular formula.
I have not had a chance to discuss this with her yet.
Most of the nurses seem to remember her saying that this is an AAP
recommendation. I have searched the AAP website as well as this listserve and
have not found this information as yet.
Has anyone else heard this and if so, can you please direct me to the
information?
Thanks so much
