I know this has been discussed on Lactnet before. How do you know that
looking at the line on the bottle is accurate?

Looking at the line of the bottle is accurate if:
  - a calibrated bottle is used (check with known amounts of weighed plain water/H2O
  - place bottle on a hard, even, level surface (I do not know the english for that carpernters e.a. use to indicate that a given level is absolutely horizontal)
  - place eyes and fluid level on the same height.
This is a procedure I was teached as a laboratoryassistent in my young years.

  Warmly,
