I have permission to post for a first time mother with a six week old,
never breastfed pain free, now on her 3rd round of Diflucan. She is
pumping and carefully washing pump parts (even that hurts), the baby has
Nystatin mouth rinses but apparently no symptoms, and I've just suggested
some dietary changes. Her nipples are itchy and tender, but not visibly
damaged, her bigger complaint is the shooting deep pain that is about to
make her quit altogether. Does the pain go away suddenly or should she be
getting gradual improvement? She thinks this morning it might be ever so
slightly better, but I'd love to extend some hope. Also, how hard will
this be to get him back to the breast? He has a tight frenulum and other
problems that apparently led to her using comfort-gels in the first week
and she believes that they led to her infection. I've only spoken to her
on the phone.
Thanks,
Maeve
