Hello all
When we are talking about hypoplasia and primary lactation failure, it is
important to remember that poly-cystic ovarian syndrome has been associated
with insufficient glandular development (because mammary tissue is known to
develop with each menstrual cycle and PCOS interferes with this) and ensuing
low supply. (That said, I have also seen a number of women who report a
history of PCOS and a raging oversupply.) These women often have breasts
that look full (not the classic tubular or bell shape). I believe there has
been some promising results when the undelying insulin resistance is treated
pharmacologically - usually in conjunction with a low GI diet.
Now I just know you are going to ask me for references on this. A friend is
writing a paper (lit review) on it as we speak and as soon as it is
published I will pass on the details.
