Happy what's left of WBW! First day not in hospital doing either work or a
celebration project.
Even the really not intoBF Nurse Manager has come up with funds for a cake
and joined in. She is accepting compliments from Administration and
congratulating my team.
We had a rush on 32 week premies on Thursday....4 in 2 hours. NICU was
hopping. Yesterday got them as patients...they all are leaking milk like
faucets...I just kept telling them how lucky they were to be doing this for their
babies. To add to Winnie's list to help with milk production with pumping I
would suggest that in this day and age of electronics...they all have cell phones
either with videos or cameras or the digital cameras...set them up while
pumping and look at their baby and think how they can feel the milk flowing. It
seems to be working with a bunch that I have been suggesting it to.
Well let me finish my email reading and laundry and cleaning so I can hit
the hospital on Sunday and Monday and Tuesday to finish up our fun...am going to
be so slow to take down some of the posters. This became a true
interdisciplinary celebration.
Dietary put on every tray all week a slip (from our WBW kit) talking about
Breastfeeding in the hospital. Social Services wore pins and pushed the WIC
exclusively BF pitch and took a poster to another building lobby and put it
up...its all Med Surg or Alcohol Treatment.
And the funniest was when we were serving "virgin cocktails" on the OB floor
and the microwave burnt the popcorn someone was popping to serve...and all
the alarms went off and the response team arrived to check it and realized
there was not really a fire but just a bad smell...they joined in ..so here are
all these guys from engineering, secruity and enviromental waiting around for
the smoke to clear drinking Maternity Mojitos (green tea and mint leaves and
fresh lime) hearing about World Breastfeeding Week.
