I work in a busy NICU with a high rate of breastfeeding mothers. I know that some nicu are using colostrum for a mouth wash or swab in the infants that are not being fed. Two of our neonatologist have allowed me to do this with several babies but they would like to have some protocol or evidence based research. It is difficult to find any thing written. If you know of any literature, or you do this and have some type of policy could this be shared with me? I would love to here what other units are doing. Thanks so much.
