Hi everyone, I'm hoping to find an IBCLC for a dyad in the "bay" area
between Mobile AL and Pensacola FL.
33 year old primip and 3 month old baby with short frenulum that ped and
LC missed, mom endured 3 months of shredded nipples before finally
diagnosed, had frenotomy last week, mom now engorged/mastitis/or worse,
because she baby won't latch since surgery (bottles of formula for about a
week) and mom not pumping or hand expressing (didn't know to? not instructed
to?). Mom needs help getting baby back to breast and assessment/ appropriate
tx of her breasts (as of 1500 east coast time, she's currently awaiting
return call from nurse at her ob/gyn's office). Mom physically miserable and
very upset about baby not nursing/preferring bottles.
I got this info secondhand (my best friend [in Mobile] called me about a
friend of hers, so I will be calling the friend myself today to get more
details), so I might find out more or something different, but I wanted to
start looking for someone on that side of the country who can help?
Thank you, Vicki Hayes RN IBCLC in WA
