Dear Lactneters,
I am a new Lactation Consultant at a regional hospital in Maryland.
I have learned so much from reading your postings. Thank You. I have been
assigned to review policies in our SCN concerning breast milk and need
your advice.
Does anyone know of evidence based research concerning the handling
of breastmilk for babies less than 32 weeks? Two of our nurses went to a
conference where they were told it should be frozen for 72 hrs to prevent
transmission of CMV. Is this a common practice based on research?
My second question is in regard to use of Human Milk Fortifier. Is
there information out there regarding safe use and handling?
Thank you very much for your help!
