I have permission to post. I have a mother who is nursing her 2nd baby.
Baby is 7 months old. has had thrush 5 times. Treated with nystatin and
diflucan last 2 episodes. with this last episode has had SEVERE pain deep
in breast with nipple pain. Described pain as "someone scrapping her milk
ducts". Has been treated this time with antibiotics and diflucan but still
has nipple soreness. Latch on is fine and no nipple soreness between
episodes of thrush. Past tx of diflucan 100mg x10 days. currently
diflucan 150 mg x 10 days while using nystatin to nipple area and baby is
being treated concurrently with diflucan 50mg/5cc -3cc qd x2weeks. Baby has
no visible signs of thrush. The antibiotics were for possible deep mastitis
with no signs and symptoms other than pain. Nodule found in breast per MD
exam. Mammogram scheduled. Mother is on Reglan to increase milk supply
with much success other wise not on any meds. Using reglan due to full-time
working. Question, any suggestions to treat the discomfort and finally get
rid of the thrush.
