My first could roll over at just a week or so old. She was born holding
her head up and did not like being on her side, which was then the
recommended sleeping position. I even bought a pillow thing that held
her on her side and she would wiggle until she was on her tummy. I
finally gave up after a few weeks, but she slept most of the time on her
tummy on my chest, so I really wasn't concerned. By the time my 2nd was
born, 3 years later, back sleeping was recommended. Janene HATED her
back, and by 2-3 weeks could roll over back to tummy. Again, she slept
most of the time on my chest on her tummy, what little time she slept
alone, she would start on her back and be on her tummy in short order.
I tried and tried, but she could roll over alone, and finally just gave
up. I figured if she could get herself to her tummy...

My youngest also spent a huge amount of time in a sling. That certainly
is not sleeping on her back.
