During the holidays I have missed much of Lactnet and
the above discussions. After skimming some of the
posts, I have come to the conclusion that BF is very
much related to politics in many ways. We should
discuss political issues that have a direct or
indirect effect on BF. Many elections determine how
much support is given to programs like WIC, HHS,
insurance coverage, local health dept.; just to name a
few. Do any of us believe that any other elected
President would have protected BF in Fed. buildings?
The issue of having a law to "permit" BF anywhere
still baffles me. I haven't kept up on Michael
Moore's activities and will keep my personal opinions
to myself. However, I am interested on how he will
deal the pharmaceutical industry. Will his "expose"
involve the FDA? Import of meds from
Canada/Mexico/New Zealand? Some of these issues may
indirectly relate to BF.
Genetic engineering is a complex subject. I try to
understand of the potential outcomes of fooling around
with Mother Nature. Some have been good; insulin for
example. Caution is indeed warranted but I also feel
we shouldn't throw the baby out w/ the bath water.
Early morning musings.
