In our NICU, we have twins born at 26 wks who have been here for 8 weeks.
The mother has been pumping plentiful amounts of breastmilk which the twins
have been receiving. She has been able to put the boy to breast for some
nuzzling; the girl she has been kangarooing. However, the latest development
is that the boy has been diagnosed with MRSA. Now the mother has questions
about kangarooing the girl after she put the boy to breast; what about co
bedding after discharge; how long does she need to maintain precautions etc.
Does anyone have any experience with preemie twins and MRSA? The mother is
eager for any information that combines breastfeeding with infection
control!
