Actually - the CPSC did the "study" (basically a case review of a hundred
and some odd cases and not a true study) in conjunction with the Juvenile
Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) CPSC claims to have received "no
payment from the JPMA".

That was verified personally with the woman who actually did the "study" at
the CPSC by myself at the time the "study" was published. Statistical
validity did not seem to be something she was able to understand.

Perhaps that is where the confusion comes in. It is strange how the media
grabs things like this instead of studies like James McKenna's that are
actually valid and based in science. (Insert sarcastic tone beginning here)
I guess he doesn't buy enough TV and print advertising to make his studies
newsworthy, unlike baby product manufacturers. :/

I regret to note that the comment "who manufacture cribs" is incorrect.
The CPSC does not make anything except reports on the safety of products
that are produced or distributed or sold. They are a government agency.

That doesn't mean I disagree with the post otherwise. James McKenna has
reviewed the co-sleeping information from CPSC in great detail for what
is reliable and what is not. I am convinced that the recommendation
(that babies should only sleep in cribs) is quite unreliable.

Sorry if this has been covered by someone else.
