Rebecca,
Perhaps what the surgeons need to see is our literature on *autocrine
control.* Do they understand that an unused breast dries up despite the
continued presence of prolactin? Do they understand that each breast
operates independently and requires regular stimulation and drainage in
order to continue to produce milk? They may be operating under the older
belief that lactation is endocrine only; their logic would make sense if
lactation were simply a matter of having enough of the right hormones.

Something is really not right in that one breast, and it is too easy to
blame continued lactation. I hope they put more of their focus into what is
happening in that breast, and that they back track and re-examine the
treatments/antibiotics they are using.

In the meantime, a can't-hurt-might-help addition to the regimen might be
"Jan Barger's magic pills," the homeopathic alternative she sometimes uses
in "intractable" cases of mastitis. From Jan's previous lactnet post:

>>Hepar Sulphur 30 C -- take 3 pellets and dissolve in mouth. 3 hours later
take Phytolacca 30 C -- 3 pellets & dissolve in mouth. 3 hours later repeat
the Hepar and 3 hours after that repeat the Phytolacca. The entire process
can be repeated x1 if necessary. Generally isn't.<<
