one of my favorite books to give to a first time mom is 25 Things Every
New Mother Should Know, by Martha Sears. The chapters are short and
easy to read, the information is presented in a clear, logical way, and
it's not a huge book that is overwhelming for a new mom. I read this
book when Lexie was 6 months old and wished I had been given it when she
was a newborn. It really empowered me to trust my instincts and my baby.

I also like giving slings, with a promise to help the mom learn to use it.
