When I was apprenticing with one of the hb mw's we spent *alot* of time
with each mom. Because of this, it became clear which moms were
getting what they needed from a vegan (or any other) diet and which ones
weren't.

When a mom was eating SAD (standard american diet of processed stuff),
it was fairly easy to help her move towards fe, healthier cereal and
bread choices, increase quality and frequency of protein add a couple
of veggies or fruits (most of the time)....

With the moms who were eating healthy veg and vegan, very little info
needed to be given, but there were many cases of junk food vegies and
several cases of vegans who essentially at bread, cereal and nut
butters. It was a challenge and a concern on many levels.

I was veg, then vegan, then did raw/live foods for a long time. But in
the end, evolution wins out for me, and while i'd be vegan b/c in my
heart it's ethically the right choice.....my biology simply won't allow
it. We didn't evolve on grains and beans....unfortunately.

It's been a struggle.......esp knowing that even though I do organic
fruits/veggies and mostly organic/grassfed meats, there are still toxins
working their way up the food chain and into my milk.
