Hi! from not so soggy SFl...I had written yesterday but it seems my remarks
were not picked up, I did respond to NBC and like everyone else including my
childbirth class last night the message we picked up was that breastfeeding was
not a good experience. I encouraged my couples to read the snippet from Dr.
Natterson's posting and told them it was totally not what breastfeeding was all
about....great lead into the breastfeeding class segment. I encouraged them
to write as consumers.
Today's segment was better....Campbell still lead the line of the sore
nipples, but the Lactation Consultant from the NY Presbyterian Hospital was quick to
point out it was a problem that could be addressed quickly. I loved when she
unwrapped the doll....the bullets could have been better but it could have
been worse...I asked the network to address the issue of breastfeeding, world
breastfeeding week and the Ad campaign on a Dateline segment to make up for the
poor presentation to the public with the segment on Tuesday 8/3/04.
Hope we can influence the network.
Have a happy breastfeeding day....off to hospital we are having a bake sale
for today's activity...Tomorrow a cake in cafeteria to entire hospital. We've
done breakfast on Monday, Lunch on Tuesday, raffling off baskets of goodies
for patients, selling buttons, making posters ...its the most activity I have
seen on our unit in ages...even more than with Magnet. And the Corporate made us
a banner for the ER entrance....next year we are trying for one over our big
bridge....
