Since you're already stoked, may I direct your attention to the August 2004
issue of Pregnancy magazine? (For those outside the states, Pregnancy
magazine is a U.S. publication for expectant moms.) I just read it this
morning in the waiting room of my son's doctor.
The article's premise is pretty good: interviews with several women
regarding their breastfeeding experiences. However, all the moms had horror
stories and not one of them breastfed for more than 7 months (that baby
"self-weaned"); 6 months was referred to as "breastfeeding for an extended
time." Some of the advice was good (e.g., feed on cue), but the article
ended on the all-too-familiar note of breastfeeding is nice but formula is
basically just as good and there're no risks associated with its use.
Argh.
Argh.
Argh.
Sigh.
regards,
Julia
