I used to really like Child Magazine. It is very yuppie, advertising formula, expensive baby clothes, etc. It has always had a "breast is healthy, but . . . what if you hate it, what if your baby hates it, if you try it and it doesn't work out, don't feel guilty" kind of attitude. It is very one sided on issues such as vaccines (you're a complete waste as a parent is you fail to vaccinate on the CDC schedule), attachment parenting (don't share sleep), etc. I think some of the editors had babies they had problems breastfeeding. I've written several letter refuting some featured articles. I had my husband, an excellent writer, read my letters each time to make sure they were intelligent and not "out there" or overly preachy. He assured me they were friendly in tone and evidenced based. Child has never printed one of my letters or any like minded pro breastfeeding letters or articles refuting their stance. I'd give it a try. This guy sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about. I haven't received the issue you are talking about. I think my subscription ran out, but I know the magazine pretty well and wanted to give you my impressions.
