I am writing this in response to the recent messages about goats milk. I did
a little research on the subject after having a patient who was feeding her
babies goats milk. Goats milk sould not be used as a supplement for
breastfeeding. It is high in sodium and very high in chloride and potassium,
which makes the renal solute load too high for babies. This can cause gastro
intestional bleeding and can result in anemia and poor growth. Also goats
milk is low in folic acid.
