I have read recently that cross nursing is not uncommon in NICUs
Not in the USA. We never use one mother's milk for another mother's infant
unless it has been pasteurized. Rarely, we will get a request to use a
relative's fresh milk. For infection control reasons the donor must be screened like
any milk bank donor and extensive legal infomed consent forms completed. It
takes a stack of papers an inch thick, but can be done.
