If the message would still be effective without being so direct, then it would have been designed that way in the first place. We could spin it this way to make ourselves feel better, but it is completely untrue and we know it. We have all been doing the "benefits speach" for years now and the AIM companies have never complained--b/c it never worked in the first place to increase rates of breastfeeding duration or exclusivity. This is an absolute outrage and there is no way on Earth that the breastfeeding community and the United States govt should roll over for the AIM manufacturers. IMO, if the AIM companies are mad, then we have hit paydirt and we need to move forward with no modifications (selling out) of any kind.
