Brenda, My heart bleeds for you. I am a night nurse (just a staff nurse, not the "lactation" nurse) who just shakes her head at my coworkers who do that (just give a bottle for no reason other than they choose not to talk to the Mom about normal breastfeeding behavior or work with Mom to get baby to latch on better). My feeling on that is that it's a noncompliance-with-policy issue that needs to be dealt with by the director of your ob department when they have been educated but refuse to follow the policies (you have a bf'ing policy?). The question of the day, though, is
How supportive is your OB director of breastfeeding??? Would she be willing to deal with this issue on a person-by-person basis for not complying with policy???
Good luck. Tomorrow will be another, hopefully better, day.
