I will speak on this topic as a labor assistant (doula), not
as an RN or other hospital employee (I am not one).

In the two cesarean births I have attended as a doula (in 2
different hospitals), both mom/baby dyads were skin-to-skin
and breastfeeding within 60 minutes after birth.
In both cases, the babies were wrapped up and held by dad
next to mom while mom was being stitched up. One case was a
ruptured uterus during an attempted VBAC, so the repair was
quite extensive. Also the baby was born with 1 min APGAR of
1. Even so, within 10 min after birth, baby was stable and
cheek-to-cheek with mom. She did go to the nursery with dad
for about 15 minutes towards the end of the repair. Both moms
were in their recovery rooms and baby was nuzzling and
latching at 60 min postpartum. Frankly, I was astounded at
how smoothly the process went! Needless to say, I recommend
these 2 hospitals as breastfeeding-friendly! (One has IBCLCs
on staff, the other doesn't).

Anyone who says it can't be done (baby to breast within 60
min of cesarean) just isn't thinking clearly!
