I need assistance with information or where I can obtain information for a mother to use when discussing her medical care with her Orthopedic MD about breastfeeding hormones and the effects on her joints.
The mother is nursing her third child who is 2 months old. Her other two children are 18 months and 3 years old. She nursed both until they were a year old.
She is now having problems with pain in her pelvis and hips. She said according to her MD she needs to quit nursing and to take the medication Bextra. He told her there are signs of calcification already and the hormone levels while she is breastfeeding along with the close pregnancies are endangering the elasticity of the ligaments and tendons. He told her she runs the risk of being "crippled" in 15 to 20 years if she doesn't follow his recommendations.
She does not want to quit nursing, but with the concerns of her family and of course not wanting to loose mobility or range of motion in her joints, she feels she has to. Thank you for your time and I appreciate any information.
